Meeting of leading Iraqi political parties without results

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A meeting between leaders of Iraq’ main political parties ended on Wednesday, without any result, following al-Iraqiya Bloc‘s demand to discuss the case of Iraq’s Vice-President, Tareq al-Hashimy, wanted for charges related to terrorism, according to a source close to the meeting. “The meeting that began at 10:00 AM local time has ended without any result, due to al-Iraqiya Bloc‘s demand to discuss the case of Vice-President, Tareq al-Hashimy, within the schedule of the meeting,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. The Iraqi Parliament had began a meeting for the leaders of the political parties to discus the demand of Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, to withdraw trust from his Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq and Baghdad’s Lord-Mayor, Sabir al-Issawi, according to a media source in the Parliament on Wednesday. Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq, on his part, had charged Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, with being what he described as “the Greatest Dictator in Iraq,” confirming what he termed as “difficulty for dealing with him and his individuality of taking decisions.” As regards to Baghdad’s Lord-Mayor, Sabir al-Issawi, he had been charged by Member of the Parliament’s Integrity Committee, Shirwan al-Wa’ely, with “having wasted 1.5 billion (b) US dollars, through accepting an offer by an unknown group, on the expense of a prominent Iraqi consultative bureau.
