MP calls political leaders to avoid media escalation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Hasoon al-Fatlawi, of the Citizen bloc called the political leaders to “avoid the media escalation and adhering to reasonable statements to bring success to Baghdad Summit.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) on Wednesday, he stated “Arab Summit needs to be successful and what makes it so is the unified statements and avoiding the media escalation because it will destroy the political process in Iraq.”

“Media escalation among the political leaders becomes a normal issue,” he added, noting that “Settling the disputes among them cannot be dome through media outlets, but through conducting dialogue.”

Recently, the relations between the State of Law Coalition and the Kurdistani Alliance witnessed some tensions as the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, in his speech at the Second National Conference for the Kurdistani Youth held in Erbil on Thursday, said “We will not hand over VP Hashimi because he came to Kurdistan Region to meet with the President

Talabani,” calling “to settle his case through the three presidencies.”

For his part, Yasin Majeed, member of the State of Law Coalition criticized Barazani’s statements about not handing over the judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi.

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he stated “Barzani stated that the Kurdish morals do not allow them to hand over Hashimi. We are wondering about the Kurdish morals when Barzani allowed the security elements of the former regime in 1996 to capture about 700-900 of the patriotic figures of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Iraqi National Conference.”
