MP calls to consider rights of oil productive province in Oil, Gas law draft

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Adil al-Maliki, of the State of Law Coalition called “To consider the rights of the oil productive provinces while legislating the Oil and Gas law draft.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The parliament must consider the rights of the oil productive province more than its concerns with the rights of Kurdistan Region.”

“These provinces must be represented within the Federal Oil and Gas Council according to their production especially Basra province otherwise MPs of Basra province will have their firm stance towards this law,” he added.

Earlier, the Federal Government and the Kurdistani Regional Government reached agreement over paying the dues of the foreign oil companies working in Kurdistan Region.

The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, called the parliament to speed up endorsing the Oil and Gas law.
