MP: Corruption in some Iraqi prisons behind escape attempts

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Adnan al-Mayahi, the member of the Parliamentary Committee for Security and Defense stated that “The corruption in some of the prisons is behind the repeated escape attempts.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) on Saturday, he said “We have informed, more than once, the administrations of the prisons to set systems that interfere the phone calls because the escape attempts cannot be done without a prior arrangement and outer help.”

“These systems are not expensive and available in the stores where the unit price of each one is 40-50 USD where some officials use them in their own vehicles to disable the Improvised Explosive Devices,” he added, noting that “It is surprising that the administrations of the prisons refuse to set these systems and they do not reveal the reasons.”
