MP describes concerns over armament of IA as "Unjustified"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Abdul Salam al-Maliki, of the State of Law Coalition confirmed that “The concerns over the bids of the armament of the Iraqi Army are unjustified since these bids aim at protecting the sovereignty of Iraq.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “Iraq is attempting to protect its sovereignty without arousing the concerns of its neighboring countries,” noting that “These concerns are not correct because Iraq needs variety of sources for the armament of its army.”

“Providing the IA with weapons will support its strength and hinder the attempts of the Qaeda and the Salafi movements for destabilizing the security of the country,” he concluded.

The Kurdistani Alliance expressed concerns over the bids concluded with Russia over the armament of the Iraqi Army.

Earlier, the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, announced that his visit to Russia comes to hold deals for buying weapons for the Iraqi Army and to consolidate the military cooperation between the two countries.
