MP: Disputes between SLC, Sadr Trend hurdle endorsing General Amnesty Law

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Lateef Mustafa Ameen, pointed out that “The disputes between the Sadr Trend and the State of Law Coalition over involving the some of the supporters of the Trend in the General Amnesty Law hurdled its endorsement.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The Committee presented some proposals for the parliament Chairmanship yet they were not included within the session agenda.”

“The major blocs did not reach agreement about the law yet where the Sadr Trend calls to involve the convicted in terrorist charges for resisting the occupation forces in this law,” he added.

“The SLC objects and call for excluding all terrorists from the law due to the difficulty between those who resisted the occupation and those who killed the Iraqis,” he mentioned.

“The legal committee presented more than one proposal to the parliament Chairmanship which in turn waits for reaching agreement among the blocs over them,” he stressed.

He indicated “The impossibility of reaching agreement among the blocs about this law.”

Earlier, the parliament postponed voting on the general amnesty law draft due to disputes among the political blocs.
