MP expects political situation to rapidly deteriorate without quick solution

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A Legislature from al-Iraqiya Bloc, led by Iyad Allawi, has expected the deterioration of the political process in Iraq, in the event that different political forces won’t achieve a quick solution for their differences. “The Political Forces must keep away from media escalation and exchange of accusations, because that won’t serve the political process,” Othman al-Juheishy told IraqiNews.com news agency, warning that “the political process would deteriorate if the situation remains at is and if a quick solution won’t be reached.” As regards to the National Council for Strategic Policies (NCSP), Juheishy pointed out that “the NCSP had been part of Arbil Agreement, reached among different political forces, and everybody should respect that agreement,” pointing out that the Prime Minister’s post had been part of the Agreement also. North Iraq Kurdistan Region’s President, Massoud Barzani, had announced his initiative to settle the political crisis on Sept. 16, 2010, including the formation of an 8-12-member committee, representing the political blocs, to start talks to settle their differences and discuss the issue of the formation of the government of national-partnership, along with the issue of the Three Leading Presidencies. Juheishy said: “the committee, formed recently, must achieve a solution towards the issue of the NCSP,” saying that “its members have no other choice, due to the current internal and foreign pressures on the political forces,” adding that “there are pressures by the U.S. Congress on leaders of the Iraqi political forces to extend the presence of the American forces in Iraq.”   SKH (TR)/SR 510
