MP: Legal Committee determines to investigate Maliki over corruption files, security breaches

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Mahdi Haji, of the Kurdistani Alliance confirmed that “The Legal Committee which was formed to determine the issues over which the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, will be investigated discussed the files of financial and administrative corruption in addition to the security breaches as well as the issue of lack of accuracy in implementing the State budget.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The Committee discussed political crises and others issues including the file of Maliki’s responsibility of the recent security breaches as the General Commander of the Armed Forces.”

“Investigating Maliki will be a historical event since it takes place for the first time in the democratic Iraq,” he concluded.

Earlier, MP, Jamal Kilani, pointed out that “The political blocs which called for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, formed a political committee to prepare for investigating Maliki in the parliament.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The blocs that participated in Erbil and Najaf meetings formed the committee that involved the head of the Kurdistani Alliance bloc in the parliament, Foad Masoum, and the head of Ahrar bloc in the parliament, Bahaa al-Araji, as well as the head of the Iraqiya Slate in the parliament, Salman al-Jumaili.”

“A legal committee that involved MPs, Haider al-Mulla and Saleem al-Jobouri, was formed to discuss the files which will be presented in the investigation,” he concluded.
