MP : Parliament to adopt current elections law if new law not endorsed

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Aboud al-Esawi, of the State of Law Coalition stated that ”The Parliament will be committed to the current elections law in case of lack of agreement on new elections law after Eid al-Adha.”Esawi mentioned to IraqiNews.com ”There will be more disagreements and disputes among the political blocs due to postponing the elections law after Eid al-Adha,” pointing out that ”We were hoping to settle this matter two weeks ago.””The statement that was read at the Parliament session represents the commitment of the Parliament and the Independent High Electoral Commission IHEC to prepare all the requirements to update the voters record,” he added.”If the Parliament failed to reach an agreement over the elections law after Eid al-Adha, the Parliament will be committed to adopt the previous elections law with amending the articles which the Federal Court issued a resolution on this regard,” he concluded. \END\
