The statement which had been read during today’s meeting of parliament by MP Mohamed Hindawi “There are groups of mercenaries from and outside Syria intend to demolish the holy shrines of Sayeda Zainab and the shrine of Sayeda Roqaya, in order to plant sectarian strife and shed the blood of Muslims as these groups have done before when they blew the shrine in Samara city to create a sectarian war in the region while the winners are America and Israel.”

The statement stressed that “We warn the armed groups, especially the Syrian free army, from damaging the holy shrines and to prove that their case is not sectarian.”

The statement expressed gratitude for the stance of the Grand Religious Authority in Syria who said that if terrorism wants to destroy the shrine of Sayeda Zainab, they must pass through my body.”

The statement called on the Islamic Organization for Economic Cooperation and the United Nations to take their responsibility in addressing these challenges and to defend the shrines in Syria.
