MPs urge to secure lives of Iraqis in Syria

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The parliamentary Committee for martyrs and political prisoners called to protect the lives of Iraqis, their property and the holy places in Syria.

A statement read by the Chairman of the Committee MP Mohammad al-Hindawi Saturday, “We have recently noticed the bad religious leaders issue their bad Fatwa which instigate against the Iraqis, particularly the Shiite, where they called them atheists and permitted to shed their blood and confiscation of their property.”

“Dozens of Iraqis were horribly killed in a brutal way in several areas of Syria, including Sayeda Zainab area, in addition to presence of hundreds of bodies in the hospitals of Muwasat and Mujtahid in Damascus.”

The statement said that “Iraqis are subject to displacement, especially those who are living in the areas of Zabadani and Madaya, had their property looted and their homes taken as headquarters for insurgents,” noting that “The militants have burnt mosques and the offices of religious authorities in the region of Sayeda Zeinab and other areas in addition to the threat of demolishing the holy shrines in Syria.”

Hindawi noted that “The international community, particularly the United Nations, the Islamic Cooperation Organization and the Arab League, have to bear the responsibility to protect the lives of Iraqis and their property and ask the international community to work hard to protect the shrines and places of worship and centers of learning.”

The statement called on the government and parliament “to work fast to protect the lives of Iraqis and their property and their holy places and to provide facilitations to grant their return to Iraq and the allocation of IQD 10 million for each returning family.”
