Musawi: “Calming down calls behind refraining from hosting Maliki in Parliament”

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The State of Law Coalition’s MP Salman al-Musawi assured that he “retreated from submitting a request to the parliament signed by 50 MPs over holding an exceptional session to host the Premier Nouri al-Maliki due to the calls from the sides which were supporting the withdrawal of confidence from the government for calming down.”

He stated to the Iraqi Media Network that “The legislative process has passed on Saturday according to plans since the opposition did not discuss the issue of withdrawing confidence from Maliki or investigating him so we did not submit the request to hold the exceptional session for hosting PM Maliki.”

“The sides which were supporting to withdraw confidence from Maliki’s government tend to calm down the situation which is considered a start point for settling the political crisis in the country,” he clarified.

It is worth to mention that the SLC suggested hosting the PM Maliki in Parliament as a reaction to demands of the sides met in Erbil province over investigating PM Maliki in Parliament then to topple him.

The supporters of Maliki were planning to reveal files of corruption related to politicians who oppose Maliki in addition to submitting a request to withdraw confidence from the Speaker Osama al-Nijaifi.
