National Alliance will meet to respond to Allawi’s charges against PM Maliki

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s National Alliance, led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, is scheduled to meet later on Saturday to discuss the charges made by al-Iraqiya Bloc’s leader Iyad Allawi against Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, the National Alliance‘s Legislature, Abdul-Mahdi al-Khafaji said.   “The National Alliance is scheduled to meet today (Saturday) to discuss the details of al-Iraqiya Leader’s statement, along with the accusations included in the statement,” Khafaji told IraqiNews.com news agency.  “There won’t be a final stance towards Iyad Allawi announced by the National Alliance until after the meeting. Iraq is passing through a critical phase and we don’t want anybody to exploit any point or cause to serve his political interests,” he added.   “Al-Iraqiya’s leader, Iyad Allawi, had addressed a TV statement on Friday, in which he attacked Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and the political process, in a surprising manner,” Khafaji said.  “The statement did not satisfy the National Alliance‘s masses orthe Iraqi people, because it was expected that al-Iraqiya’s Leader would be  more logical than other members of his Bloc,” he noted.   “The political process will continue forward according to its plan and won’t be affected by accusations and statements,” Khafaji stressed.  “The Parliament will be the decisive factor in this respect,” Khafaji stressed.   Al-Iraqiya’s leader, Iyad Allawi, had launched a strong attack against Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, charging him with “lying, hypocracy and deception,” as well as depending on foreign intervention and Iran to become a prime minister.   SKH (TI)/SR 770
