National Coalition MP charges al-Iraqiya Coalition Leader’s recent statement had undermined positive atmospheres between both

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A Legislature of the National Coalition, led by Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, has said on Saturday that the recent statements by al-Iraqiya Leader, Iyad Allawi, had “undermined the positive atmospheres, witnessed during the closed meetings of both Coalitions.”   “It is clear that differences took place about the draft-law for the National Council for Strategic Policies (NCSP) over the past period, and we have tried to overcome those differences during our recent meetings, stemming from our keenness to safeguard our relations with other political parties,” Khalid al-Assady told IraqiNews.com news agency.   “But,” Assadi stressed that “those positive atmospheres, that reigned over the meetings of the political blocs over the past few days, were undermined by the hot statements by Allawi over the past two days.”   He said the differences about the NCSP were centered on “two points, related to the nature of voting on the candidate of its Chairman and its components, though those differences were not so deep, as we have been striving in our meetings, to reach basic understandings on same.”   “Allawi’s recent statements may hamper the process of understanding, because such threats won’t achieve an understanding; so, we hope that an agreement would be reached, despite fact that the atmospheres, created by Allawi, in my opinion, won’t lead to quick understandings,” Assadi said.   The Chairman of al-Iraqiya Coalition, Iyad Allawi, had stated in a news conference on Friday that the dialogue with the State of Law was considered a “loss of time,” threatening to withdraw from the political process in the event that the Arbil Agreement, based on the Initiative of north Iraq’s Kurdistan President, Massoud Barzani, won’t be implemented.
