New provincial council’s head, deputy selected in Thi-Qar

THI-QAR / IraqiNews.com: The new head of Thi-Qar’s provincial council and his deputy were selected by a secret balloting during a session of the council that was held in the province, said a source from the Dawlat al-Qanoon list in Thi-Qar. “Qusai al-Ibadi was selected as the head of Thi-Qar’s new provincial council, after he received 19 votes,” Abdulhussein al-Mufadhil told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Abdulhadi Mohan was selected as the council’s new deputy head,” he said. Both al-Mufadhil and Mohan belong to Dawlat al-Qanoon list, headed by the Iraqi Premier Nouri al-Maliki. “After voting, the new council’s members were sworn in before the chief judge of Thi-Qar’s appeal court,” he added. Nassiriya, the capital city of Thi-Qar province, lies 380 km south of Baghdad. MH (P)/SR 15
