New U.S. security contractor in Iraq – newspaper

Iraq-U BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The U.S. State Department said Wednesday that Triple Canopy, a Virginia-based firm, would take over security work from the company formerly called Blackwater Worldwide, the New York Times said on Thursday. “Blackwater, now known as Xe, came under heavy criticism for its role in a gun battle in Baghdad in 2007 that left 17 Iraqi civilians dead,” it added. Xe has provided security for American diplomats in Iraq. The United States government decided this year not to renew its contract. SH (P)/SR 1
