NGOs call on int’l community to stop Turkish aggression

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The chairman of the NGOs in Kurdistan called on global governments and authorities to work towards a termination of the continued bombardments against Kurdistan territories.  Adnan Anwar Bey said in press conference, attended by IraqiNews.com, that the NGOs “call on the UN Security Council, the European Union, and the U.S. to stop Turkish atrocities.”  He demanded the federal government bear its responsibilities in regards to these violations, not to be shy and take necessary measures to stop these attacks.  In addition, he called on the Iraqi Parliament to press the Iraqi government to adopt a serious stand towards Turkey.  The Kurdistan government issued a statement yesterday in which it expressed its indignation and condemnation for the Turkish aerial bombings which led to the immigration of the people and material losses.  It pointed out that the protection of the region does not come through unilateral military actions, but through dialogue and joint discussions among the parties.  For the last few weeks, a number of Kurdistan villages in Arbil and Duhuk provinces are under fire under the pretext of chasing PKK member sheltering in the bordering region.   RM (TI)/SR 418
