Nijaifi demands UN to investigate Human Rights in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nijaifi said that “Preventing the entry of food and drinks to Haweeja is inhumane and completely unacceptable issue.”

He demanded, during his meeting with the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative in Iraq, Martin Kobler, and discussing with him the issue of human rights and the status of citizens in Hawija and how to contain the current crisis, to “send another parliamentary delegation in addition to the Previous delegation to inspect the conditions of the people of Hawija and relieving the crisis.”

Nijaifi expressed “Unease and deep concerns towards the position of the UN mission in the field of human rights,” stressing the need to “review the UN real role in Iraq since the issues of human rights, detainees and demonstration cause concerns in Iraq.”

He also called for the UN Mission to have strong stances backed by clear reports that support their official and humanitarian situation in Iraq.
