Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) The Governor of Nineveh, Athil al-Nijaifi, condemned dismissing 30 judges from Nineveh due to the procedures of the Justice and Accountability Commission in Nineveh province.

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com on Friday, he said “Dismissing those judges is based on illegal procedures and it is a clear violation to the law.”

“Issuing a list of those judges, including two judges martyrs, is a dangerous indicator over targeting certain areas and making it out of the judicial authority,” he added, calling the “Supreme Judicial Council to hold its responsibility in preserving the dependence of the judicial system in Iraq.”

He called to “Discuss this issue in the Council of Ministers and finding good solutions for it.”

Earlier, the Presidency of Nineveh Appellate Court received an official address from the JAC over involving 30 judges with the procedures of Debaathfication.

A source stated to IraqiNews.com “All the debaathified judges are from Mosul city.”

It is worth mentioning that the JAC was called the Debaathfication Commission which is concerned with the procedures of eliminating the elements of the former Baath Party who participated in killing Iraqis from the governmental institutions.
