No final agreements reached regarding security cabinet posts – NCSP, al-Iraqiya MP says.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com – A Legislature, representing al-Iraqiya Coalition, has denied the existence of a final agreement among different political blocs to settle the security cabinet posts and the National Council for Strategic Policies (NCSP), saying that Prime Minister’s presentation of several candidates for those posts to the Parliament “shall create a crisis with al-Iraqiya, that considers the assignment of the Defense Minister is part of its rights.”   “There is no agreement till now regarding the issue of the security ministries among the political blocs, regarding any candidate, as there isn’t a final settlement for the issue for the draft-law on the National Council for Strategic Polices (NCSP),” Zuheir al-Aaraji told IraqiNews.com news agency on Thursday.   Aarji said: “We had been hopeful that the related committees to move, after any meeting between Prime Minister, Nouri al-Malilki and (al-Iraqiya Leader), Iyad Allawi, but nothing happened till now, in order to settle the issues, that have remained on their previous condition.”   “We had been waiting for what Maliki would present to the Parliament, including his candidates for the Interior, Defense and National Security posts, in order to allow the Legislatures to vote on them, thing that would create a political crisis with al-Iraqiya Coalition, because the Defense Minister’s candidate is one of its rights, according to the political compromise that took place among different blocs,” Aaraji said.   Noteworthy is that the Iraqi Parliament on 21/12/2010 had granted trust to the new Iraqi government, comprising 42 cabinet posts, including 12 ministries of states, whilst Prime Minister Maliki had kept the administrations of the Interior, Defense and National Security cabinets under him, on “acting” basis, temporarily, pending the final settlement of their candidates by different political blocs.   ST / SKH   400
