Nujaifi’s name inserted in New York Times article – statement

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A statement issued by parliament speaker Usama Nujaifi stated today that “Nujaifi’s name was inserted in the article published by the New York Times to shed dust on his role as chairman of people’s authority”. It added that the published article was written without his knowledge. The New York Times published on Wednesday last a letter sent by Nujaifi, Head of Iraqiya bloc Iyad Alawi and Finance Minister Rafi’ al-Isawi, “warning against a civil war and sectarian dictatorship”, calling the United States to tie its support to premier Nouri al-Maliki “with the implementation of Arbil agreement, dissolving unconstitutional organs, and the assistance to the Iraqi army and police should be conditioned that these will represent the nation, not a sect or a party”.
