Nusaiyf calls to set law draft for Supreme Council of Water

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Aliya Nusaiyf, of the Iraqiya Hurra bloc called the government to set a law draft for the Supreme Council of Water in order to submit it to the parliament.

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com, she stated “The necessity of setting this law draft is due to the war for water that Iraq has with some countries such as Turkey, Iran, Syria and Kuwait at the same time we should not conduct mutual agreements with those countries in order to make sure that the Iraq right is not lost.”

“The Turkish authorities has done the Aliso dam that resulted is drying up many lands, the Syrian authorities took what they need from water before allowing it to reach Iraq, the Iranian side close the rivers that reach Iraq at the beginning of each Summer and the Kuwaiti side close the only navigation side to Iraq,” she added.

“The Supreme Council for Water law, in spite being late, will save Iraq from the water disaster that Iraq will face in the next few years due to the war of its neighbors.” She concluded
