Parliament dissolution either by majority or a PM request – legal advisor

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: There are two ways to dissolve the Iraqi Parliament, either through the approval of the majority of members on the voting, or the Prime Minister proposes to the President of the Republic to endorse it, legal adviser Tariq Harb said today. Harb told IraqiNews.com that these calls require an appropriate number of votes, as most of the parliamentarians will not accept the proposal. In addition, al-Iraqiya Bloc and the National Alliance will not approve of such a resolution, Harb continued. Commenting on the executive power, Harb confirmed that Premier Nouri al-Maliki should submit a proposal to the President of the Republic in this regard and for the re-election, which Harb believes to be a far-fetched point. “Most MPs who called to dissolve the parliament in front of the media did so for political ends,” he added. 216
