Parliament opens session in absence of iya legislatures

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Parliament has held its session on Saturday, under the chairmanship of its Speaker,Usama al-Nujeify, and in the absence of Parliament Members from al-Iraqiya Bloc, led by former Prime Minister, Iyad Allawi, a Parliament media source reported. “The Iraqi Parliament’s session was held this afternoon, under the chairmanship of its Speaker, Usama al-Njueifi, after the completion of its legal attendance, with the presence of the Chairman of the National Alliance, Ibrahim al-Jaafary and the Alliance’s Member, Ahmed al-Chalaby. Legislatures from al-Iraqiya did not attend the session, and instead gathered in the Parliament’s rest hall, following to their Bloc’s decision to suspend attendance of the sessions,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. Earlier al-Iraqiya announced their Bloc’s legislatures would suspend attendance of Parliament sessions. SKH (TP)/SR 733
