Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Mufeed al-Baldawi of the State of Law Coalition attributed the reluctance of the voters in the provincial elections to the bad performance of the former provincial councils.

Baldawi mentioned in a statement received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) on Monday “The Independent High Electoral Commission worked neutrally and professionally in performing its task,” noting “The general polling somehow witnessed reluctance among the voters which resulted from the poor performance of the local councils.”

He called “the political blocs to address this situation through providing services to the citizens, urging the new provincial council members to do their best to provide services to the people in order to avoid this reluctance in next time.”

The IHEC has reported that the participation ratio in the local elections was up to 51%.

A new statistical report prepared IraqiNews.com over the participation ratio in the provincial elections compared with 2009 provincial elections showed that “The ratio decreased in ten provinces while two other provinces preserved this ratio where none of the province witnessed an increase in the participation percentage.”
