Peaceful demonstration in Ninewa against joint forces presence

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: More than 100 persons have gathered in front of the Ninewa province building to protest the presence of joint forces in the province, according to a local security source. “The demonstrators carried placards reflecting their rejection of the presence of U.S. and Peshmerga forces in Mosul City, particularly in Sad al-Mosul area (40 km north of Mosul),” the source told Iraqi News. In August, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, Gen. Ray Odierno proposed the deployment of joint forces in Iraqi contested areas following a series of bloody bombings that rocked Mosul city and left hundreds of people killed or wounded. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. SS (P) 1
