Peshmerga assigned to protect borders only on elections day – minister

SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: Peshmerga forces have been assigned to protect the borders of the Kurdistan region only without approaching cities or poll station on the elections day, scheduled next July 25, the Peshmerga minister said on Tuesday. “Peshmerga forces are assigned to protect the region’s borders during the coming elections to prevent terrorists from entering the region to implement acts of sabotage,” Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Security forces and Peshmerga forces will vote one day before the elections like other countries in the world,” he noted.
