PM confers with U.S. Delegation on joint relations

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, has conferred in Baghdad with a visiting U.S. White House delegation on the development of joint relations, in such a way that relates to the Agreement on Strategic Cooperation between Iraq and the United States, and the activation of the American companies in Iraq in the fields of reconstruction and investment in particular. “Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has received an American delegation which includes the Deputy Advisor of the National Security, Denis McDonough, and a number of other high ranking officials,” a statement released by the Prime Minister’s office on Sunday noted.   “Both sides have confirmed necessity for the development of relations between Baghdad and Washington in all fields, in such a way that coincides with the Joint Strategic Cooperation Agreement,” the statement stressed.   It pointed to the “activation of the work of U.S. companies in the field of building, reconstruction and investment, within the framework of the Joint Iraq-American Joint Economic Council, agreed upon recently, pointing out to the renewal of the U.S. support for the Iraqi government in all fields that serve the protection of Iraq’s stability, prosperity and the development of its economy and infrastructure.”   SKH (TI)/SR  495
