Saad: Selling weapons phenomenon in central, southern Iraq retreated

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The leader within Fadhila bloc, Suzan al-Saad, stressed “The retreat in the phenomenon of selling weapons in central and southern regions of Iraq, especially after the fatwa which have been issued earlier by the religious authorities in which they tabooed selling weapons to unknown sides.”

She said on Sunday “We got precise information that the phenomenon of selling the light and medium weapons in central and southern regions in Iraq has significantly declined,” noting that “This issue represents an incentive for all Iraqi people as being an evidence for their commitment to the instructions issued by the religious authority and the officials.”

Earlier, some religious authorities have issued fatwa in which they prohibited the sale of weapons after reports unveiled unidentified sides who buy weapons from the civilians in central and southern provinces at high prices to offload those provinces of weapons to achieve sectarian goals.
