Sadr urges Iraqis to send humanitarian aid to Gaza

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr on Friday appealed to Iraqis to stage fund-raising marches and send humanitarian and medical aid to Gaza Strip. “Once again the Zionists prove their violence against humanity by killing innocent people. The massacres being perpetrated in Gaza Strip is yet another poof of these carnages with covers of legitimacy provided by the United States to continue the attacks,” Muhannad al-Musawi, the Friday prayers preacher in Sadr City, eastern Baghdad, quoted Sadr as saying. Musawi also quoted Sadr as urging the Iraqi people in the street to send medical and humanitarian aid to the people in the Gaza Strip. He also called on the international community to intervene to end the suffering of the civilians in Gaza. AmR (P) 1
