Salihi stresses representing all Iraqi communities especially Turkmen within IHEC

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Turkmeni Front, Arshad al-Salihi, stressed “The necessity of representing all Iraqi communities especially the Turkmen within the Independent High Electoral Commission.”

A statement by the Front received by IraqiNews.com cited “Salihi received the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Iraq, Martin Kobler, with the attendance of MP, Hasan al-Bayati, on Tuesday.”

“During the meeting, Salihi presented his suggestion concerning the elections of Kirkuk Provincial Council that he will present to the parliament,” the statement added.

“Salihi emphasized that the Kurds and Arabs’ insistence on conducting the elections depending on the voters’ record of last parliamentary elections is a continuity for the demographic mistakes committed post 2003 and will not come with real results,” the statement continued.

“For his part, Kobler confirmed that UNAMI aims at helping to accomplish the real representation for all the Iraqi communities including the Sunni, Shiite, Kurdish, Turkmeni communities and the minorities like the Christians,” the statement concluded.
