Sari: Barazani’s statements aim to show Kurdistan Region as independent from Iraq
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Hassan al-Sari, of the Citizen bloc considered the statements of the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barazani, over reconsidering the air ban zone as “A message to indicate that Kurdistan Region is no longer a part of Iraq and it is independent Region.”
He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “Currently, we are having a political crisis where we need to settle it and it is not a good time for any official to release such statements that increase the crisis,” noting that “The tensed statements do not settle the crisis but increase it.”
Earlier, Barazani stated that he threatened to reconsider the decision 688 of the United Nations that imposed an air ban zone to Kurdistan Region since 1991, accusing the central government of deploying Iraqi forces on the borders of Kurdistan Region, whereas the Iraqi security forces assured that “there are no forces as mentioned,” and assured that “these statements negetively affect the Kurdish people as well as the Iraqi people.”
