Sari: Maysan local government not to hold responsibility over floods

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Hassan al-Sari, of Maysan government stated that the natural disasters that took place in Maysan province are greater than the capacities of Maysan local government.

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The floods in Maysan are unexpected,” noting that “Such disaster needs more efforts and big budgets to construct dams that could prevent the floods.”

“Maysan local government has no authorities to construct such dams where it is the responsibility of the central government,” he added.

“We have called the Council of Ministers to compensate the citizens and the famers who were affected by the latest floods,” he concluded.
