Several security institutions take part in securing elections – al-Rubaei

Iraq-Elections BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s National Security Adviser Muwafaq al-Rubaei said on Thursday that several security institutions will take part in the security plan related to the provincial councils elections, including Iraqi police and army forces as well as U.S. troops. “The security plan for the provincial councils’ elections, which was prepared by the high security committee of the elections, witnesses the participation of the interior ministry to secure the poll stations and the Defense Ministry which will protect the voters as well as the Multinational forces,” al-Rubaei told IraqiNews.com. Iraq’s Parliament has set a January 31 deadline for elections in 14 provinces, excluding the three Kurdish provinces and the disputed oil-rich province of Kirkuk. SH (P)/SR 1
