Shalah stresses necessity to review Amnesty Law draft

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Ali al-Shalah of the State of Law Coalition confirmed that “The General Amnesty law needs scrutiny before a vote by the Parliament.”

Shalah stated to IraqiNews.com “We were mistaken when we released the criminals and terrorists because they committed crimes against the Iraqi people,” noting that “We do not want to repeat the same scenario, so it is necessary to study the law very carefully before endorsing it.”

“This law should not cover those who were involved in crimes against the innocent people,” he added.

A Parliamentary source has cited to IraqiNews.com “Discussing and voting on the Amnesty law will be after the holiday of holy Eid al-Fitr.”
