Shara: Reducing disputes between CG, Kurdistan RegionG to reduce UN role in drafting Oil Law

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the Oil and Gas Parliamentary Committee, MP Furat al-Shara, confirmed that “Reducing the disputes between the Central Government and the Kurdistani Regional Government will reduce the role of the United Nations in drafting the Oil and Gas Law.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “The UN’s role will be no more than consultative and technical without interfering to create harmony between the CG and Kurdistan RegionG concerning this law in case the Mini-Committee reached a final draft for the law.”

“The Mini-Committee is attempting to reach a compromise between the two drafts of the law of 2007 and 2011,” he concluded.

Earlier, the Federal Government and the Kurdistani Regional Government reached agreement over paying the dues of the foreign oil companies working in Kurdistan Region.
