Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council denied the participation of its head, Ammar al-Hakim, in Erbil meeting that is decided to be held among a number of the Iraqi leaders on Monday evening.

The Spokesman of the SIIC, Hameed Ma’la, stated to IraqiNews.com “Hakim is still in Najaf province and did not depart it towards Erbil to participate in the meeting which will be held on Monday evening,” noting that “He will return to Baghdad later on.”

“The national meeting is the choice presented to settle the current crisis through adherence to the constitution and the former agreements which did not violate the constitution,” Ma’la confirmed.

“The serious dialogues and neglecting the huge demands represent a vital way to eliminate the crisis,” he concluded.

Earlier, reports mentioned that “Hakim headed to Erbil to participate in the meeting which involves the Kurdistani Alliance, Iraqiya Slate and the Sadr Trend.”

It is expected to hold a five-sided meeting that involves the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, the head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the Deputy Premier, Salih al-Mutleg, in Erbil on Monday to discuss the decisions of the first Erbil meeting and Najaf meeting which called the Iraqi National Alliance to replace the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.
