Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Supreme Judicial Council denied he reports mentioned by some media outlets over holding the first session of the trial of the judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, at the building of the SJC.

The spokesman of the SJC, Abdul Satar al-Birqdar, stated to IraqiNews.com “These reports contradict the actual judicial performance because the SJC is a supreme side that runs the affairs of the Courts and other judicial sides from the administrative aspect only.”

“The court which held Hashimi’s trial is the Central Criminal Court of Karkh in Baghdad,” he mentioned.

“We previously clarified that the judicial decisions are to be issued by the specialized courts independently without any interferences from any side according to the constitution,” he concluded.

Hashimi’s trial is considered as the first of its type for a key official since 2003.

Earlier, the Central Criminal Court started the trial of the judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, while dozens of the victims’ families arrived at the court.

The Supreme Judicial Council announced “Postponing the trail of the judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi, for two times.”

Hashimi who is currently in Turkey is supposed to be sued on last Thursday in absentia for three crimes. Hashimi’s case is one of the pending issues among the political blocs especially between the State of Law Coalition and the Iraqiya Slate.

The INTERPOL issued an arrest warrant against Hashimi for being suspected in conducting terrorist crimes against civilians and officials in Iraq.
