SLC MP accuses Kurds of establishing state within State

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The State of Law Coalition’s MP Abdul Salam al-Maliki accused the Kurdistan Region of “establishing a State within the State.”

In a statement to Iraqi News, he said Sunday “The Kurdish Peshmerga forces have trespassed their limits and violated the constitution and Iraqi law by preventing the Iraqi Army Forces tasked with protecting the Iraqi borders.”

“We have suspicions that the Peshmerga have turned the Khabour area near Kurdistan Region as a bridge to allow the militants across from and into Syria which is the main reason behind their rejection for the deployment of the IA units in that area because it will cut the supplies road of those militants,” according to MP Maliki.

He assured that “The Peshmerga trespassed its authorities and they are trying to create a State within the Iraqi State and the Iraqi Government should do its duties related to protecting the Iraqi borders rather than resorting to unconstitutional demands of Kurdistan Region since the protection of Iraqi Borders is the duty of the Central Government only.”
