SLC MP expects endorsing FC law draft, nominating IHEC members after Eid

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Hadi al-Yasiri, of the State of Law Coalition expected “Settling the Federal Court law draft and nominating the member of the Independent High Electoral Commission in the first parliament sessions after Eid al-Fitr.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “The parliament considered these two law drafts as it priorities after Eid.”

“Delaying such laws will not serve the political process and will contribute in delaying the elections of the Provincial Councils,” he added.

“The SLC supports keeping the number of the IHEC members as nine rather than increasing them to 15 because such increase will waste the public money since the members of the IHEC occupy the post equal to the post of Ministers and General Directors,” he concluded.

Earlier, the parliament postponed “Voting on the law drafts of the Federal Court and the Supreme Judicial Council till after Eid al-Fitr.”

Parliamentary source stated to IraqiNews.com “The parliament decided the vote on these two law drafts due to the disputes among the blocs over them.”

The parliament was supposed to vote on these two law drafts during Monday session after postponing them for many times.
