Some powers are trying to torpedo political process – PM

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said on Sunday that there are some parties who try to wreak havoc with the country’s political process and erase the election results, adding the parliament needs weigh its achievements within 100 days. “The cabinet would not allow provinces to give back the sums allocated by the state because it would mean those provinces are unable to implement their tasks,” Maliki said during a meeting with a delegation of tribal chiefs in Ninewa. “The government’s timeframe of 100 days for the executive organizations to assess the level of services achieved would help the government recognize the ministers who fail to meet the demands,” Maliki was quoted in a statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. He noted that the parliament also needs to evaluate its achievements through those 100 days. “We should not settle for what we have accomplished in the political process, including the formation of a national partnership government, but rather go ahead to meet the demands of the Iraqi people,” he said.
