Some talk about SOFA as election material

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki accused some politicians of talking about U.S. troop withdrawal agreement as election material, according to the state-run al-Iraqia satellite television. In his word during a meeting of State of Law Alliance gathering (Dawlat al-Qanoon) which will compete in the next provincial council elections, al-Maliki said “the day which saw the approval of the agreement should be a national day for Iraq, which managed to retrieve its complete sovereignty.” “We do not want to make the agreement as elections material,” he noted. On November 27, the Iraqi Parliament approved the security pact with the United States, also known as the Status-of-Forces Agreement (SOFA), with a majority of 149 votes to 35. SH (P)/SR 1
