Spanish Court Summons Premier Maliki

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Spanish General Court agreed to investigate a complaint submitted against Iraqi officials for atrocities committed in the Iranian opposition Ashraf camp north east of Baghdad. The atrocities were committed on 8 April last , when more than 30 people were killed and injuring tens of the camp’s inhabitants. Al-Sharq Al-Awsat daily reported a statement issued by by the Iranian Resistance Council  that Premier Nouri Al-Maliki will be summoned to the court, when he ends his term as premier, in addition to General Ali Ghaidan, Commander of Land Forces, Colonel Abdul Lateef al-Inabi, commander of Iraqi brigade in Ashraf Camp and captain Jasim Al-Timini,  to attend the session on 3 October 2011. According to the paper, UN representative to Iraq Ed Melkert and Straun Stevenson, head of relations with Iraq at the European Union shall attend as witnesses. RM (TP)/SR 896
