UN urges political blocs to accept elections results

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Special Representative of the Secretary- General of the United Nations in Iraq, Nikolay Mladinov, urged the candidates and their supporters to maintain a peaceful and democratic spirit while announcing the results of the parliamentary elections.

A statement for the UN mission in Iraq (UNAMI) quoted Mladinov, as saying “At the time of completing the final stages of entering data of the parliamentary elections, we urge the candidates and their supporters to maintain peace and democracy.” He added “Any election-related disputes should be resolved through legal means, calling on the Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) and judiciary to deal with the potential challenges quickly and with justice.”
