Talabani congratulates Hakim for being re-elected as Head of SIIC

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The President, Jalal Talabani, sent a congratulatory message for The Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, for being re-elected as the head of the SIIC.

In the congratulatory message, Talabani stated “I would like to congratulate you for completing the tasks of the SIIC and for being re-elected as the head of the SIIC.”

He added “I am sure that you will continue the way that former heads of the SIIC, Mohamed Baqer al-Hakim, and your late father, Abdul Aziz al-Hakim have followed to confront terrorism, injustice and to preserve the unity of Iraq regardless its various religions, sects and communities.”

“I seize the opportunity to confirm the necessity of reinforcing the historic relations between the SIIC and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan that emerged at the time of the former head of the SIIC, Mohamed Baqer al-Hakim, to be the corner stone for the struggle against the dictatorship,” he pointed out.

“I do ask Allah the Almighty to save you and guide you to continue your national role in Iraq,” he concluded.

It is worth mentioning that the SIIC held its 11th General Conference to elect the Political Committee and re-nominated Hakim as it’s Head on last Sunday.
