Talabani: IHEC must not be affected by any pressure

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The President, Jalal Talabani, while meeting the new commission members of High Electoral Elections of Iraq headed by Commissioners’ Council Sarbast Mustafa, stated that the IHEC should not be affected by any pressure.

A statement by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan received by IraqiNews.com quoted Talabani, as saying “The commission must not be changed by any pressure wherever the source is in order not to lose its integrity and democratic legality.”

“Talabani valued the IHEC roles it plays in supervising and observing the country’s elections, saying that the commission participates in preserving and developing democracy in the country,” the statement added.

“He also considered the commission’s duties as decisive and delicate,” the statement pointed out, assuring that “Talabani noted that If the IHEC keeps its profession, independence and unbiased, it will guarantee the establishment of democracy.”
