Talabani off to NY for GA meetings

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal al-Talabani has left Sulaimaniya city heading to the United States to attend the 64 th session of the General Assembly meetings. “Talabani will give a speech at the meetings. He will also participate in the NY-based Socialist International Congress,” the Central Media Office of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) said in a statement received by Iraqi News. Talabani, who leads the PUK, is accompanied by the vice-president of the Kurdistan region, Kosrat Rasul, according to the statement. After the meetings, Talabani will head to Mayo Clinic to undergo surgery on his left knee, the statement added. SS (P) 1
