Tribal Gathering in Basra condemning Kuwait’s building of Mubarak Terminal, two Nuclear Reactors

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: A number of tribes in southern Iraq ’s Basra Province have held a protest meeting on Saturday towards the building by Kuwait of Mubarak Terminal on the Gulf and two nuclear reactors close to the Iraqi borders.   “A number of Basra tribes have met at its Celebrations Square , demanding the abolishment of Mubarak Terminal and Kuwait ’s all other naval projects that undermine international navigation and the Grand Basra Terminal,” Sheikh Mohammed Al-Zeidawi told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Zeidawi said that “the protestors have called on the International Community and the United Nations to revise the resolutions taken against Iraq , and specially the drawing of Iraq ’s borders with Kuwait and Iran .”   “We have also demanded the compensation of Iraq and the people of Basra for the losses, caused by the policies, followed against Iraq and its people, along with the release of prisoners and detainees, particularly the fishermen, as well as handing over the remains of dead Iraqis,” he added.   Zeidawi also said: “We have demanded the government to abolish all oil projects and licenses that have been held, along with revising Iraq ’s relations and raising judicial cases against regional interferences by the neighboring states, especially Kuwait , Iran and Turkey .”   SKH (IT)
