On Tuesday the Foreign Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, said that his country evacuated its consulate in the southern city of Basra.

Davutoglu said through his account on Twitter that “Turkey had evacuated its consulate in the southern city of Basra on Tuesday due to increased security risks. The employees were moved to Kuwait.”

A Turkish foreign ministry official said that “There are 18 people working at the Basra consulate, including the consul general of Turkey. They will return from Kuwait to Turkey and there are no plans to evacuate the embassy in Baghdad.”
