Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Salman al-Musawi, of the State of Law Coalition pointed out “The reactions of the political figures towards the visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister to Kirkuk proved that it is impossible to attach this province to Kurdistan Region as a part of it.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmed Davutoglu, to Kirkuk came to embarrass the Central Government but in fact it was negatively reflected on the Presidency of Kurdistan Region.”

“The attempt Kurdistan Region Presidency to undervalue the CG by violating the international norms failed because Iraq is still adherent to keep on its historical relations with Turkey,” he added.

The relations between Iraq and Turkey witnessed tensions recently on the background of the Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmed Davutoglu, last visit to Kirkuk which is conducted without notifying the Iraq Government.

Davutoglu arrived to Kurdistan Region on last Wednesday where the Premier of Kurdistan Region, Nijirvan Barzani, has received him in Erbil airport.

The Iraqi Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the visit and considered it as a violation for Iraq’s sovereignty.
